Andor: Make It Worth It

Through one and a half seasons of Andor, the Force has been absent. No Jedi, and no Sith. Instead, Andor has been more interested in how people who have no special powers operate under an authoritarian system consolidating its power.

Ghorman is not some backwater like Mina Rau or Ferrix. It’s wealthy, influential, and has name recognition amongst the elites of the Galaxy. It’s a bright star between the Galactic Core and the Outer Rim, and if it goes up in flames, it will burn brightly.

Very few people who stand up against tyranny do it from the word go. We can’t all be Saw Gerrera. For the rest of us, it takes a moment where we can’t avoid looking directly at what is happening. Where the cost is too great, where we must say enough. And then, right then, a rebel is born.

But the rest of us are not Jedi. Our tools are limited, and success is not guaranteed. But we must try. It's the central idea of Andor and Rogue One. Whether we do or do not, we must try.

Everyone has their own rebellion, sure. But each of those rebellions have their own costs. And dear or not, those costs must be paid.

Andor: The Price of Rebellion

I first saw Mon Mothma in Return of the Jedi, as the calm and stately leader of the Rebel Alliance. Though she’s only in one scene, her calm confidence and clear sense of the cost of war was compelling. She's a favorite character of mine, and her major role in Andor made me excited for the series.

He became a Rebel. That becoming is one of the things Andor is about. Not just how Cassian joined the Rebellion, but how a bunch of disorganized, squabbling groups and individuals who annoy each other became the Rebellion against the Empire.
