What Happened, Amy Wren?

A quick explanation for my absence, and a look forward to what's next now that I'm back.

What Happened, Amy Wren?
Farewell, dear Anya

So yeah.

I promised a review of Andor back in August, and it never happened. Why? Because this summer and fall has kind of kicked my ass, that's why.

Back in August, we had to say goodbye to our beloved cat Anya. It kind of came out of nowhere. I miss her so much.

Then, like a week later, my laptop died. It had been having its issues for a while, but in August it became incredibly erratic. No laptop meant no videos, and also meant no newsletters. And though that problem could have been solved by borrowing my wife's computer, suffice it to say I wasn't in any mood to write.

On top of this all I've been looking for work as web programmer since my last contract ended at the end of June. If you or anyone you know is in the same boat, you know it's a terrible time to be trying to find a job as a programmer. It feels like half the programmers out there are looking for work. Put that together with a general hiring process that is, to put it politely, complete shit, and it's a bad, bad time to be looking for work.

So tl;dr, things could have been better for me the past few months. They still aren't great, as I am still looking for work. However, I do have a working laptop again, and I feel like writing again. Hooray!

The long promised Andor piece will be coming sometime before Thanksgiving, I guarantee that. And in December, I'll have some more stuff to talk about as well. Over at The Great Amy Ride, I'll be talking about movies again and will be reviving my "Amy Wren Watched What?" weekly feature. Money's real tight right now, and I'd appreciate it if you signed up for one of the paid tiers to support my work over on the Patreon. But your continued support by reading and sharing my work is also greatly appreciated.

Thanks as always for supporting this newsletter.
